Designed and made in Italy, they offer softness and warmth, sitting just above the ears. Their take on a classic style, the distinct fisherman style sits just above the ears making for a stylish yet functional beanie. The high quality merino wool used for these beanies ensures warmth without being itchy. All 40 Colori’s knitted beanies are crafted by one skilled artisan. Maurizio’s workshop is located near Reggio Emilia, 170km from the 40 Colori HQ, at the heart of an artisanal district praised for quality knitwear manufacturing. In his small workshop, Maurizio runs five mechanical flat knitting machines which he uses to craft the hats.

40 Colori source their merino wool yarn from Zegna Baruffa, one of the leading spinners in Biella, Italy's wool capital. They use Cashwool, their signature yarn. Soft, warm and durable; this yarn is made with extra-fine merino wool fibers measuring less than 19.5 micron, sourced from responsibly selected Australian flocks. The raw fibers are then dyed and worsted spun entirely in Zegna Baruffa's vertically integrated facility at the foothills of the Alps.

They measure 52cm/20.5” in circumference, with a slight stretch, and are only available in this size. The hats are designed to sit above the ears.
